Larsson, Ph.D., L.P., BCBA, Executive Director, Clinical Services, The Lovaas Institute for Early Intervention, Midwest Headquarters where he implements a program of intensive early intervention services for families of children who suffer from severe behavior disorders. This intensive early intervention program is one of the most thorough and highly supervised behavior therapy programs in the field. Dr. Larsson is recognized as an expert in early intervention, inclusive communities, severe behavior disorders, multiple handicaps, autism, the rights of individuals with disabilities, nonaversive treatment, Applied Behavior Analysis, and self-injurious behavior. He has published papers on such topics as early intervention, functional communication, autism, social skills, parenting, and human rights. He has given over 70 presentations and 60 workshops on such topics as intensive early intervention, parenting, curriculum management, community leadership, behavior management, staff training, quality assurance, family violence, social skills, inclusive communities, autism, and consultation. He holds adjunct appointments at several major universities. H e is currently on the Autism Advisory Board of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies. Presentation Title: “Current Innovations in Early Intervention: Social and Language Programming” James Mulick, Ph.D., Psychologist and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychology at The Ohio State University. His specialty areas include behavior analysis in developmental disabilities and early childhood, behavioral assessment of drug action, and public policy analysis relating to children and people with disabilities. He has advocated for better access to appropriate educational and psychological services for all children and their families, and was awarded the Heiser Award for Advocacy by the American Psychological Association in 1999. His current work consists of basic and applied behavior analysis in child development, psychopharmacology, autism and mental retardation; infant assessment; treatment of severe behavior disorders in children with developmental disabilities, including antisocial behavior, stereotypy and selfinjurious behavior; and ecobehavioral analysis. Presentation Title: "The Physiological Basis for Early Intensive Behavior Treatment of Autism" The following people from Melmark New England in Andover, MA will be presenting together: Florence D. DiGennaro Reed, Ph.D., BCBA, Director of Professional Development, Training and Research. Dr. Florence DiGennaro Reed also provides consultation to the Institute for Child Development at Binghamton University on a collaborative project involving the New York State Department of Health and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Dr. DiGennaro Reed, a board certified behavior analyst TM, received her doctorate from Syracuse University in 2006 in the area of school psychology. She completed a clinical post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute for Child Development and a pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology at the May Center for Education and Neurorehabilitation and the May Center for Child Development. Dr. DiGennaro Reed has 15 years experience working with individuals with developmental problems and their families in schools and community-based settings. Specifically, she specializes in the behavioral treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders and provides training for caregivers and teachers. In 2005-2006, Dr. DiGennaro Reed served on the board of advisors for the Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Central NY and was honored this past spring with the “When Everybody Cares Award for Professional Excellence.” Dr. DiGennaro Reed is a researcher who has published in a number of refereed journals. In addition, she has written book chapters on topics including behavioral consultation and treatment for children with autism. Florence has presented over 150 papers and workshops at regional and national conferences, as well as in NY area schools. Her current research interests focus on identifying effective and efficient staff and parent training practices, refining functional assessment procedures, social skills interventions, and examining ways to improve treatment integrity. Brian Liu-Constant, M.S.Ed., Ed.S., BCBA, Director of Early Childhood Services. Mr. Brian Liu-Constant, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Massachusetts certified educator in intensive special needs for grades PK-12, is the Director of Early Childhood Services for Melmark New England, a lecturer in the division of corporate, continuing, and distance education at the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Education and Human Services at Simmons College. He was the president of Behavioral Education Consulting, Inc. Mr. Brian Liu-Constant earned a Master of Science degree in Education and a Specialist in Education degree in Behavioral Education from Simmons College in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He has presented symposia and workshops at national conferences and has provided professional trainings on a variety of behavior analytic topics and has published on the topic of vocabulary development in high school students with dyslexia. Lisa A. Studer, MS, BCBA, Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Melmark New England in Andover, MA. Ms. Lisa Studer received her Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University in 2006. Prior to this, she completed a 4-course graduate series in Applied Behavior Analysis through the University of Massachusetts/Boston and earned her Board Certification in Behavior Analysis in August 2007. During her tenure with Melmark New England, she has been a classroom teacher and is presently an Educational Coordinator. Ms. Lisa Studer has primarily worked with young adults whose focus has been on functional academics, life skills and vocational skills.
